Motivation
(Borrington & Stimpson, 2013) the reason why employees want to work hard and work effectively for a business is because of motivation. A person must be internally motivated, whether we refer to it as a need or a drive, motivation is a state of being inside of us that yearns for a change, either in the environment or in the self. When we draw from this source of power, motivation gives us the drive and direction we need to interact with the environment in a way that is adaptable, open-ended, and problem-solving. (Reeve, 2015)
Types of motivation
There are two types of motivation intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. An example of intrinsic motivation is when someone is motivated solely by the satisfaction of solving a task (Job satisfaction). Extrinsic motivation comes from sources other than the individual and frequently entails material benefits like medals, cash, accolades, or social recognition. (Cherry, 2022)

Components of motivation

Activation is the decision to initiate a behavior, An example enrolling in a degree program in order to earn your degree. Persistence the continuing pursuit of a goal in the face of challenges is known as persistence. An example of persistence would be showing up for the degree program class even though you are tired from staying up late the night before. Intensity is the concentration and vigor that goes into pursuing a goal. (Cherry, 2022)

ReplyDeleteThe most successful companies had ‘the big
idea’. They had a clear vision and a set of
joined values. They were disturbed with
sustaining performance and flexibility. Clear
sign existed between positive attitudes
towards HR policies and practices, levels of
satisfaction, motivation and commitment, and
operational performance (Armstrong, 2014)

DeleteThank you Ameen for the feedback and I agree with your context Motivation has three major components, which are activation, persistence, and intensity. The strength of each of these motivational factors will determine whether you succeed in reaching your objective. For instance, if you are highly activated, you are more likely to begin pursuing a goal. If you maintain working toward that objective and how much effort you put into achieving it depends on your persistence and intensity. (Cherry, 2022)

DeleteThank you Shermila for the feedback and I agree with your context, there are 2 types of motivations, Extrinsic motivation arises from outside of the individual and often involves external rewards such as trophies, money, social recognition, or praise. Intrinsic motivation is internal and arises from within the individual, such as doing a complicated crossword puzzle purely for the gratification of solving a problem. (Cherry, 2022)
